Learning how to handle or manage colors in the sublimation technique is vital to achieve the desired results when transferring images to substrates. The colors that are seen on the screen at the time of making the design can be very different from what we finally see printed, which is disappointing and so we must take into account the factors that can affect these results. When we observe the colors of the design on the PC screen, we can observe their bright and vivid tones, but we will never see these same patterns on the sublimated products, although doing a correct and adequate management of the colors and using quality sublimable products, yes we can obtain results very close to what we see on the monitor.

Change colors from RGB to CMYK
Why does this happen? The reason is simple. On a screen, the colors are produced by light beam and in RGB format, that is, using red, green and blue as a base. This gives us to understand that the monitor adds light to the colors it projects. On the other hand, printers use the CMYK format (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) and the colors it produces absorb light to be able to emit their tones. That is, the monitor adds light to the color, the paper subtracts light to the colors.
Let us remember that since the image is on our screen until we see it printed on a mug, for example, it must go through several processes such as: printing on paper, where important factors influence within which we can name the quality of the printer, of the ink and of the same paper, then the gasification of the ink when applying heat and finally its encapsulation within the polyester, which must also be of optimum quality.

The best inks and paper for sublimation
As we can see, we talk about two different things when we refer to on-screen color and printed color. And making them match 100% is not possible so efforts should be made to make them as similar as possible and that is what we are looking for with a correct color management.
To achieve the greatest similarity between what we see and what we get, it is necessary first of all, to have quality equipment, such as printers and heat plates. Premium supplies with excellent polyester coating with exact formulation to provide perfect encapsulation of ink molecules, gloss and sharpness.
